All beaches are clear of cyanobacteria blooms and have been reopened.

When will the beach’s re_open again?
Our staff will check again tomorrow morning. If it’s all clear, then it will open. We will continue to monitor the beaches during this spell of hot weather.
We came down from the campground this morning and went swimming. No signs posted coming in from the side entrance. Students came down from the school and were going out in kayaks and canoes. Everyone was wading in the water. What are the effects of swimming with this cyanobacteria?
Still closed?
We’re checking them all now. Please check back in a bit. We have been advised by the DEC that blooms often reappear as the water warms up after 10am. So will be checking periodically throughout the day as well.
The blooms can appear quickly so they may not have been present in the early morning. The cyanobacteria itself isn’t harmful, so not all occurrences are bad for you, but it depends on whether or not the bloom produces toxins. Since some do, when we see a bloom, we close the beach just to be safe. Read more about it from the experts: https://www.lakechamplaincommittee.org/lcc-at-work/algae-in-lake/
How about today?
Any updates expected before this afternoon? I want to go to North Beach!
When will you be posting an update?
Do you have an update on the status of the beaches for Wednesday, September 27, 2017?
