Coaches provide instruction as parent and child work together to develop motor skills necessary to succeed in soccer and to prepare child for team play, which begins at the kindergarten level. Participants will receive a soccer ball and t-shirt.  Champlain site led by Soccer Sparks staff.

Kick the ball! The Soccer Sparks 3-4 year old class is designed to help kids develop their large motor skills and get them running, dribbling, and kicking the ball while having lots of fun. The kids learn the very basics of the game through skill demonstrations and games as they transition from parent assisted to individual participation.

Dribble, kick, and pass! The Soccer Sparks 4-5 year old class is designed to spark an early passion for the game in young players. This class will encourage greater retention of foundational soccer skills such as dribbling, passing, and shooting in a positive environment. Our curriculum includes fun and energetic games that teach kids about playing within a group.

Dazzle with your footwork! The Soccer Sparks 6-9 year old class utilizes the €œall ball€ approach to foster skill improvement and build player confidence. Players will learn to solidify such skills as dribbling, passing, trapping, receiving, juggling, and accurate shooting in a supportive team environment.

Fall Soccer

$60 Resident / $70 Non-resident

This popular program is for children entering K-6 in the fall. Teams will play one-hour games on Sunday afternoons (start times for games are between 12:30-4:30pm) and have one week day practice, which is determined by the coaches. Shin guards are mandatory. Save money by registering by August 29, 4pm and pay only $50 resident/$60 non-resident. Fee increases to $60 resident/$70 non-resident and placement on a team is not guaranteed if you register after August 29. For the kindergarten division a parent or guardian is required to attend all games and practices. Division III players must be able to commit to the entire season if enrolled in this program. Scholarships are available, please contact our main office 864.0123.

VOLUNTEER COACHES ARE NEEDED FOR THIS PROGRAM. Please contact Jen Cotton, jcotton@burlingtonvt.gov or 540-1089, if you’re interested. Mandatory background check and concussion training is required. Alpha Youth Sports coaching platform, will provide all coaches with a weekly lesson plan, so you don’t have to plan out your weekly practices.

Talent Skatepark has been teaching summer camp with BPRW for 20 years! This after-school clinic is geared for skaters of all abilities.  Skateboarding is challenging but we reinforce self-confidence while lightly encouraging kids to step out of their comfort zone.  All skaters will need helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards – Safety has always been our #1 priority.

In a creative and safe environment that promotes wellness and encourages communication, growth, perseverance and happiness, campers will progress to the next level of skating. In this after school skateboarding workshop hosted by Maven, beginners will learn skateboard mechanics and basic riding skills such as balance, pushing, turning, stopping, riding transitions, and dropping-in. Advanced skaters will have the opportunity to drop in on bigger obstacles/features, and learn more challenging tricks. Skaters will be assessed on day one of the 6 session program to establish skateboarding goals. Lessons are adapted to each individual  s ability. All participants are educated in skateboard safety, including skateboard maintenance and skatepark etiquette. If there are any rain days, campers will explore skateboarding through music, art and culture. Campers will navigate the mechanics and maintenance needs of their equipment, as well as examine different creative art mediums related to the skateboard culture.

Burlington Field Hockey & Champ Hockey have partnered to offer this fall recreation field hockey programming to engage 2nd-5th grade players and grow a love for the sport of field hockey. This program is open to boys and girls. No experience is required.

Players can provide their own equipment, however there will be sticks to borrow, along with limited safety equipment. Cleats, shin guards and mouth guards are encouraged, but not required.

Play in the inaugural NFL Flag Football League, an officially licensed NFL Flag program.  Boys and girls are welcome to join. Participants will learn the basic rules, strategies and skills to enjoy the game.  NFL Flag Football is a non-contact version of football, where the focus will be put on fundamentals of the game, maintaining good sportsmanship and allowing for skill development and, most importantly, having fun.  Practice day(s) and time will be determined by volunteer coaches. Games will be on Saturdays.

Led by pitching expert, Dave Allerton, girls will learn the mechanics of the fast-pitch softball pitching motion. Suitable for beginners and more advanced pitchers too. He will also cover how to warm up for a game and how to throw different pitches. Each pitcher MUST bring their own catcher for the clinic.

Introduce your child (and yourself) to the game of disc golf!  Parent and child will work together and get to play on a professional 9 hole Innova mini course.  Each will get an Innova mini disc to keep.  Chris Young, professional disc golfer & owner of Disc Golf Vermont, will lead this fun new program.
