Turtles at North Beach

Today our North Beach Campground staff made a delightful discovery… a turtle nest!

Our crews set up a safety perimeter to protect momma and her eggs.

Please be respectful and DO NOT DISTURB THE NEST.

We’re currently getting more information about the turtle, including confirming the species because Vermont is home to endangered species of turtle, and we hope protect the survival of all our resident wildlife. Check back for more updates!

 

Update 6/19: We believe it was a snapping turtle laying her eggs. And we certainly encourage people to leave the turtle and eggs alone. We want all our wildlife to survive in BTV. For anyone curious, here’s a blog post we came across while looking into this more:
