Additional Information About North Beach

North Beach is Burlington’s largest beach and the only beach with active lifeguards in our summer season. With food concessions, a playground, restrooms with showers, picnic tables and grills, North Beach has something for everyone. During the summer months you can also rent kayaks, canoes and stand up paddleboards at our vendors kiosk and take full advantage of what Burlington has to offer.

The park and beach are open all year.

North Beach is located off of North Avenue and boasts a full campground with available sites for overnight rentals. Learn more about our North Beach Campground.

Parking
North Beach Parking opens on May 1. There is no parking available at North Beach from October through April. Walk-in and bike access is open year round.

Fees are charged from May to October – see hourly parking rates here.

Gates are open from 9am-9pm during our May-October operating season. From November-April, gates are open weekdays 9am-2pm.

Burlington Parks Season Passes and Green Mountain Passes* are accepted. Seasonal passes allow unlimited admittance to all Burlington parks that charge parking fees (except Waterfront Park Pease Lot). Go to Park Burlington (aimsparking.com) to purchase.

*Green Mountain Passes are issued through VT State Parks and available for purchase at City Hall.  If you are 62 years or older and a Vermont resident, or a Vermont resident who is a veteran who has been honorably discharged from active duty in US armed services, you are eligible for a lifetime day entry pass into the parks called the Green Mountain Passport.

Lifeguards
Seasonal lifeguards are on duty from 11am – 6pm daily. The season operates roughly early June through end of August.

Kayak & Standup Paddleboard Rentals
Paddlesurf Champlain offers both Kayak and Paddleboard rentals from their beach outpost.

North Beach Shelter

Nestled on the shore of beautiful Lake Champlain is a rentable shelter at North Beach. It is suitable to host gatherings of up to 70 people such as birthday parties, company picnics and family/friend reunions with access to the following amenities:

  • Direct access to 9 miles of bike path
  • Waterfront Views
  • Public Beach Access

The shelter is available to rent with full amenities from mid-May to mid-September and can be rented by the half day or the full day.  Click here to learn more.

Food and Drinks at the Beach (open seasonally)

The Beach House

The Beach House is the only place in Burlington where you can drink and dine right on the beach. Located on North Beach, with easy access to the beautiful Burlington Greenway, the Beach House offers a variety of dishes including salads, burgers, pizza, and snacks. Our Tiki Bar serves local and imported beer, wine, and tropical cocktails. Relax under an umbrella on the patio overlooking Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains while enjoying delicious food and refreshing drinks this summer! Throughout the summer The Beach House will host events with local breweries and distilleries, and have live music nights.

The Snack Bar

No shirt, no shoes, no problem at the Snack Bar on North Beach! Order classic summer snacks at the boardwalk window including hot dogs, burgers, chicken tenders, fries, creemees, frozen yogurt and refreshing soft drinks. Quick, easy and tasty lunch options for kids and adults alike.
