Wag the Waterfront!

September 9, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

On September 9th, Burlington Parks, Rec & Waterfront is hosting our 1st annual free Wag the Waterfront event at the Waterfront dog park! A day to celebrate all things dog: with a dog-related vending market, agility and training demonstrations, doggie ball pits, an animal communicator, rescues representing, caricature artists doing dog and owner drawings, and so much more! During the Market, there will be an afternoon-long Yappy Hour *in* the dog park, with a Switchback Brewing bar, BTV Good Eats food truck, and Matt Hagen of Local Dork spinning tunes. Well-behaved and friendly dogs are welcome on leash in the market, and off leash at Yappy Hour. Please have proof of rabies vaccination to enter Yappy Hour: a tag or photo of the certificate on your photo will do! $1 from every Wag the Waterfront koozie sold will go to our friends at Passion 4 Paws!

Park in the Lake Street lot (don’t forget to download the parking app https://parkburlington.com/parkmobile/ ) or park at Perkins Pier and take the BPRW Mutt Mover Wag-on Shuttle to the event! Pick-ups at Perkins every 20 minutes, meet at the Mutt Mover Sign!

Additionally, BPRW will be offering event attendees with mobility challenges a lift from the Sailing Center to the event site in our awesome GEM cart! Should you or someone with you require a ride, please wait by the Mutt Mover sign as well. Please note: we cannot carry more than one person at a time in this cart, so your patience is appreciated.

Class and Yoga Schedule in the Show Ring:

1:15pm Yoga session 1

2pm Black Jack Dog Training Demo

2:45pm Yoga session 2

3:30pm Proper Pups Weight Pulling Demo

Paws and Poses: casual Yoga-Fitness Fusion for You and Your Dog! A session designed for you to delight in movement while bonding and training with your pup! In this class, we’ll guide participants through a fusion of yoga and fitness, concentrating on exercises and motions tailored to enhance injury prevention and maintain our physical strength and flexibility. These skills are crucial for various everyday tasks like managing our energetic canines, engaging in games of tug-of-war, and more. Simultaneously, as we engage in our fitness routine, our pups will have the chance to practice self-control and staying composed amidst lively distractions in some parts, while engaging in their own training exercises in others.

Murphy’s New Meal

“When my family dog, Murphy, began to decline in health at the age of 14, I decided to start cooking homemade dog food for him to see if that would help. The change was nothing short of miraculous, it was as if he was given a second life! Murphy taught me the importance of nutrition for dogs and that kibble is not providing that. I want to help as many other dogs as I can to be healthier and live longer by providing super healthy, ready to eat meals for them.”
