A Talk about Trees for Posterity

March 29, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Proper planting of trees is critical to their long-term health and viability. Join Burlington City Arborist V.J. Comai as he takes us through the critical steps in planting a tree. This talk will cover basic tree biology, site assessment, species selection, various planting options and the pros and cons of each, as well as best planting practices and aftercare throughout the establishment period.

With over 30 years of experience planting and maintaining trees, V.J. has seen it all. This presentation will help you to avoid common mistakes that lead to premature tree failure and will ensure that the trees that you plant will be your gift to posterity. V.J. will also discuss the state of Burlington’s urban forest and highlight work that has been completed in Burlington over the past few years and plans for the future.

This talk will be held at the Public Works Building at 645 Pine Street on Tuesday, March 29 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Attendance is limited to 35, and registration is required. To register, email Margaret Skinner at mskinner@uvm.edu This event is brought to you by Branch Out Burlington! and the Burlington Dept. of Parks, Recreation and Waterfront.
