The 16th Annual Awesome Tree Contest, sponsored by Branch Out Burlington!, is now underway until the end of September.

LOOK UP; LOOK UP!  The 2015 Awesome Tree Contest has begun!

There are so MANY trees just waiting to be nominated. The categories for this year are: Beautiful Bark, Best Use of a Tree, Kid’s Choice, My Favorite Tree in Burlington, and Tallest.

The rules are pretty simple; Trees must be in the city of Burlington. Trees that have won in previous years may not win again in their respective category. (A list of the trees that have won may be obtained on our web site www.branchoutburlington.org.) All entries must be received by Wednesday, September 30, 2015. Enter online or deliver/mail entry forms to the Parks and Recreation Office at 645 Pine Street, Suite B, Burlington. Judging will take place in early October.

So use your imagination, have some fun and get out there and look at the  wonderful trees of Burlington! Great prizes donated by these local businesses and organizations: Gardener’s Supply, Green Mountain Compost, Ace Bibens Hardware on North Avenue, Gardenside Nursery, Vermont Dept of Forest, Parks and Recreation, Burlington Parks and Recreation Department and Seventh Horizon Design Company.

The Award Ceremony will be held at the BOB! Annual Meeting which will take place on December 3. Last years judging and ceremony were very informative and exciting, with this year’s events being even better!
