Happy Holidays to Our Seniors Posted on December 18, 2015 Updated: December 18, 2015 by dwood Burlington Parks Recreation & Waterfront is kind of in the business of making of memories. From awesome summer experiences for kids, to formative team sports, to last night’s Senior Holiday Dinner when our recreation department put on a VERY SPECIAL EVENING. The BPRW spent the morning transforming the Miller Center’s Community Room into a glowingly elegant banquet hall. Seniors arrived by car, our own BPRW mini-bus and some were picked up by the Trolley... All received warm welcomes from the staff. The center’s lobby was transformed into a photo booth with Santa there for Polaroid photo ops! Seniors seemed to love the handmade frame cards as much as the kids at the Pomerleau Holiday Dinner last week. 2015 Senior Holiday Dinner Dinner was served by staff and volunteers. Even our director’s littlest helped! The delicious meal was catered by our own Leddy Ice Arena concessionaire! From the baked brie and hors d’oeuvres platter to the caramel drizzled pumpkin pie… everything was scrumptious. We were joyfully entertained by the talented group of men in the Green Mountain Chorus. What an astounding group of a capella singers! The evening was wrapped up with Yvette leading the accompanied sing-a-long with our recreation superintendent Gary Rogers on guitar and our event planner’s mom on piano! Our guests John and Carol had such a wonderful time that they sent an email to Mayor right away, saying that it was “a most delightful evening spent with many of our senior friends from both the Heineberg Senior Housing and the Thayer House in addition to the NAAC Church and other seniors living through the NNE and city who attended the dinner at the Miller Center Hosted by Jesse and his dedicated Parks and Rec. staff… ” and that “it was such a fun time had by all. Good Food, Good Fellowship, Good Entertainment” As you can tell, the staff is really involved with this event. We are grateful for the opportunity to bring joy into the lives of every Burlingtonian, young and old!
